Legend of Lemuria
Lemuria, also known as Mu or the Motherland of Mu, is believed by some to have been a continent located in the Southern Pacific between North America and Asia/Australia. The story of this mystical land has a rich history and has captivated many for years.
Origins
Information surrounding Lemuria began to emerge and gain popularity in 1864, when Philip Lutley Sclater, a British lawyer and zoologist, published an essay titled “The Mammals of Madagascar." Sclater found a significantly larger number of lemur species in Madagascar than in either Africa or India. From this obervation he concluded that Madagascar was likely the animal’s original homeland.
He conjectured that a lost landmass stretching across the Indian Ocean must have once enabled lemurs to travel to India and Africa from Madagascar. This continent, which he called “Lemuria,” after the primates he was studying, he believed to have touched India’s southern point, southern Africa, and western Australia before ultimately sinking to the ocean floor.
Many other scientists of this time accepted this theory and the idea of Lemuria as a lost paradise where human kind originated began to take shape and grow.
Lemurians
The inhabitants of this lost land, known as Lemurians, are believed to have been a highly advanced and peaceful people. Legend tells us that they lived in harmony with nature and one another in their paradise.
Some accounts claim they were extremely tall with four arms while others suggest they were shapeshifters, capable of moving from land to sea effortlessly. While there isn't one clear idea of exactly what Lemurians looked or acted like, there is general agreement they they were highly evolved, thriving and had a vast knowledge about humanity and the key to connecting with source energy.
The Great Flood
The tale continues that these wise beings were given warning that a great catastrophe was imminent and their heaven on earth would be destroyed. They began to prepare for this event by by building an underground civilization where they would flee in order to survive.
Preserving Knowledge
It was of great importance to these ancient beings to preserve their sacred knowledge so that it might survive and benefit the generations of the future. Some believe they did so by infusing their knowledge into crystals so that their descendants might one day discover their roots and awaken to their Lemurian past.
This is where the idea of Lemurian Quartz, said to be embedded with ancient knowledge of human existence and source energy, began. The Lemurians buried these crystals so that one day the wisdom within them would be discovered once again. These crystals are believed to have the ability to help us remember that we are all one consciousness and beings of divine love.
Lemuria Today
Today there are many spiritual communities and people who believe they are the descendants of the Lemurians and have memories of their past lives in Lemuria. They are thought to be healers and shamans who work today to share their knowledge and spread the ways of the Lemurians to the inhabitants of present-day earth. They are also "ordinary" people who feel a strong connection to the legend of Lemuria and yearn to restore the peace of their lost civilization.
