Spellwork Essentials by Goddess Provisions
Spellwork Essentials
The new year is upon us and we know that you’re full to the brim with new intentions for the year ahead. You don’t need permission to access your inner-sorceress and direct your energies toward creating the life you desire. The power is within you, Goddess. It always has been. So whether you’re a magick novice or a seasoned witch, we know you have it inside you to expertly execute your spells and rituals. Here is a list of a few tools to help you along the way.  Altar Creating a sacred space is essential to your work. You can choose anywhere in your home that calls to you and fill your altar with objects that have meaning to you (we’ll offer some suggestions as you read on) and that you will use when casting your spells. It’s important to note that once you deem an item enchanted and make it part of your practice it is forever imbibed with your energy and your magic. Make sure not to use your altar candle to decorate your dinner table-unless of course that’s part of your spell ; )  Altar Mat A great way to set the tone and protect your altar is to top it with a sacred cloth or covering. Any fabric that feels magical to you will work. Our Altar Mats are a beautiful foundation to your altar and will get you in the mood to get your spellwork on.  Altar Bell Another spellwork must have is an altar bell. The clear ringing of a witch’s bell can do many things from cleaning the energy in your space to banishing unwanted energies. It can also be used to call in your desired intentions and clear any stagnant energy lingering in your home. Keep this on the left side of your altar, with tools representing the Goddess and use it to invoke her whenever needed. Our January 2021 Spellwork Box has the perfect altar bell to add to your spellwork toolkit.   Candles So many spells call for the element of fire so having candles on hand is a must. These instruments encompass all of the elements (fire, melted wax for water, the air that feeds the flame, and the solid wax for earth) and are powerful tools to aid in focusing your intention. You don’t need any special type of candle as long as the intention is there. The important part is to remember to never blow out your candle or you blow away your intention right along with it! Make sure to have a candle snuffer (included in our January 2021 Spellwork Box) on hand to put out the flame without undoing your work. Spellbooks While you can always create your own spells, it is always a good idea to have some guidebooks on hand to use as a touchstone or point of reference. We can always benefit from the knowledge of those who came before us and there are a plethora of options out there depending on the kind of magick you’re practicing. We love Spellwork For Self-Care (in the January 2021 Spellwork Box) which contains 40 spells to help guide you on the path to better mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.  Herbs and Spices  Many spells can be done simply by raiding your spice drawer or garden! Ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and cayenne are just a few examples of everyday spices that can be utilized for magical purposes. And for herbs, check out an in-depth look at which can be used for what in this detailed guide by our very own herb witch. This kit includes all of the herbs and spices you need to start your collection.  Crystals Witches know that these powerful tools are full of life and can impart their healing qualities to humans, plants and animals alike. They can be used to harness your energy and intentions and send them out into the Universe and beyond. Look into which crystals have the properties most applicable to the spellwork you’re engaging in and let them help you manifest change in your life. Leopard Jasper (as seen in our January 2021 Spellwork Box) is a great example as it is a powerful mental, physical and spiritual healer and it’s properties can be used to enhance your spells.   Journal & Pen You’ll want to have a place where you can document your experiences and keep track of any spells you create yourself. Find a beautiful notebook or journal that feels special to you and take time to write in it each time you feel called. Use this  pen with rose quartz (in our January 2021 Spellwork Box ) to fill your words with magick and let the power of the crystals link them directly to your heart and soul.   We hope this guide inspires you to begin or continue to cultivate your spellwork practice. Spellwork is a powerful way to connect to your inner power and effect change in your life. We’ll be here encouraging and supporting you throughout your journey. Always remember that YOU are the magic and these tools are merely there to help you wield it. For more goddess goodies sign up for your own magical box here!

A Lammas Ritual for the First Harvest
A Lammas Ritual for the First Harvest
Lammas marks the first of the year's three harvest festivals, the point where the sun still burns strong but has quietly begun to loosen its grip on the year. Traditionally, it was a day of gathering the first grain, baking the first bread, and taking honest stock of what had actually grown from the intentions planted back in spring. It asks a gentler question than most sabbats: not what are you building, but what have you already been given. This ritual is built around a money bowl, one of the oldest and simplest forms of prosperity magic, updated here to hold the specific energy of the first harvest. What You'll Need A green or gold candle A small bowl for your altar Our Money Magick Ritual Kit, which includes the herbs and pyrite you'll use below Our Prosperity Anointing Oil A Citrine Tumbled Stone, for abundance Our Golden Ray Sun Spoon, for scooping the herbs into your bowl (a small detail, but a fitting one for a harvest ritual) A slip of paper and a pen Setting the Space Cleanse your altar and your materials however feels right to you, whether that's incense, sound, or simply your intention. Place your bowl at the center, with your candle just behind it. If you can, work near a window so the last of the summer sun can reach your space. The Gathering Using your Sun Spoon, scoop a small pinch of each herb from your Money Magick Ritual Kit into the bowl. As you do, think of this as your own act of harvesting, gathering the small pieces of effort and intention you've put in since spring. Add your pyrite to the bowl, and place your citrine beside it. The Naming On your slip of paper, write down one thing that has genuinely borne fruit for you this year. It doesn't need to be large. A habit you kept, a relationship that deepened, a fear you moved through. Fold the paper toward you three times, once to name it, once to honor it, once to let it grow, and tuck it beneath the bowl. The Anointing Anoint your candle with the Prosperity Anointing Oil, tracing it from the wick down to the base to draw abundance toward you. Light the candle and let it sit beside your bowl. The Reflection Sit with the flame for a few minutes. Ask yourself what you are ready to reap next, now that the hardest part, the planting, is already behind you. Let the candle burn down safely, or extinguish it with intention and return to the ritual over the following days. Reflection: What have you been given this year that you almost didn't notice? However you choose to celebrate the harvest this year, we hope it feels abundant. If you're looking to carry this energy further, our Manifesting Abundance Bundle is a beautiful next step, or explore Manifest Your Reality and Call In Abundance for more tools to support the season.

A Fire Ritual for Releasing
A Fire Ritual for Releasing
Earth-based religions have long used the power of a fire ritual to create a mighty energetic shift and clear space for a new season - whether that be internally clearing old patterns, or externally marking moments in the Wheel of the Year, known as the “fire festivals” (or cross-quarter days) of Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain. You don’t have to wait for a cross-quarter day though to work with a fire ritual. If you’re in need of an energetic cleansing, a clearing out of the old and welcoming in the new, here are a few simple ways you can hold your own releasing ceremony at any time of year: 1. Gather your supplies Things you might want to have on hand for your ritual: A fire-proof bowl, indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit to center your ritual around. A lighter (Upgrade your ritual tools with this Ritual Lighter Case from Seed of Creation which is available in our Goddess Provisions Boutique!) Paper & pen, or physical items that are representative of what you are choosing to release (photos, old journals etc. Please be conscientious of what you choose to burn, taking care that it will not cause a negative reaction when placed in the fire. For example, metal items or anything that might combust!) Any other items that would help you to create a sacred space (candles, gem stones, music)  2. Set the space This can be as simple as placing your ritual objects with care in front of you and just getting quiet for a moment to mark the beginning of the ceremony, or it could be an elaborate process of decorating the space with candles, photos, music. Below are some ideas for helping to set your space. Pick and choose those that resonate with you, or come up with your own to help you to fully sink into the magic of the moment! Play some inspiring, empowering music. Light candles around the area where the actual fire will be lit. Place photos around your ritual space of deities who represent fire, letting go, and releasing blockages. Kali, Freyja, Pele, Brigid are all incredibly powerful goddess associated with the element of fire. Gather red, orange and yellow gem stones around your ritual space to help support the energy of fire. 3. Offer it up to the fire  While for some it can be incredibly freeing to burn old journals of your past self, or photos of a relationship that needs to finally be released, sometimes that may not feel like the right version of a fire ritual for you. Instead you might like to write down what you are letting go of on a simple piece of paper to throw into the fire. If you have the proper set-up and know-how to create a contained fire, get those flames going! Otherwise, bring your fire-proof bowl into your ritual space and one-by-one, light the piece(s) of paper that you have written on with your lighter and then drop the paper into the bowl to let the flames work their magic. 4. Connect to the flames and feel the release  Once your offerings (in the form of the physical items, or the pieces of paper) have caught fire, take time to sit quietly watching the flames as they do the work of destroying those things that were holding you back from the next form of your evolution. As you watch it all turn to ash, tap into the felt sense of what it will be like to no longer have those barriers preventing you from your growth. 5. Close your ritual When the fire has burned out, or you feel your ritual is complete, close your ritual with offering up a moment of gratitude for the things that you have released. They were part of your journey and helped you get to where you are now, and though they are no longer necessary, they served a purpose. Before leaving your ritual space, make sure that the fire is completely out. **************************************************** Any time you feel the tug of your old habits, relationships or the beliefs you released in your fire ritual, visualize the flames consuming them once again and continue to embody the feeling of freedom from removing those old blockages. We’d love to hear from you! Connect with us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter and let us know what you're ready to release.

Gemini Season Is Here and It Wants You to Get Curious
Gemini Season Is Here and It Wants You to Get Curious
After the deep, earthy exhale of Taurus season, something in the air shifts. Literally. Taurus asked you to slow down, come home to your body, and tend to what matters. Gemini arrives and throws open the windows. If Taurus was bare feet on cool earth, Gemini is the moment you look up and realize the whole world is waiting to be explored. This is one of the most mentally alive, socially electric times of the entire astrological year. And if you let it, it can be genuinely exhilarating. Below you'll find everything you need to understand this season's energy, plus a full air element ritual to help you work with it intentionally. Understanding Gemini Energy Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac. Mutable, airy, and ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, thought, and exchange. Where Taurus moves through the body and the senses, Gemini moves through the mind, through questions, through conversations that light something up in you, through the electric feeling of making a connection between two ideas that hadn't met before. This is a sign that understands something deeply: curiosity is not a distraction; it is a direction. Gemini energy is not scattered, despite what its reputation for duality might suggest. It's exploratory. It gathers information the way a bee moves through a garden, not randomly, but following what is alive and interesting, cross-pollinating as it goes. The ideas Gemini picks up in one conversation become medicine in another. The thread you follow just because it interests you ends up leading somewhere you couldn't have planned. Think of a student who has just discovered a subject that genuinely lights them up. They read everything, ask everyone questions, connect the dots across disciplines, and forget to check the time. That is Gemini season in essence. The Mercury Influence Because Gemini is ruled by Mercury, this season carries a particular charge around communication and the power of words. Mercury governs how we think, how we speak, how we listen, and how we make meaning from our experiences. During Gemini season, these areas of life become more activated. Conversations feel more significant. Words carry more weight. The stories you tell about yourself and your life feel more visible, and therefore more available to examine and, if needed, to change. Gemini season asks: what narrative have you been carrying that no longer fits? What story is ready to be rewritten? This isn't just an intellectual exercise. Words and thoughts shape reality. The inner dialogue you've been running, the way you describe yourself to others, the things you tell yourself are possible or not possible, all of it is up for review. Gemini season gives you the mental clarity and agility to actually see these patterns and do something about them. It's also worth noting that Mercury-ruled seasons are excellent for learning. If there has been something you've wanted to study, a skill you've wanted to develop, a tradition you've wanted to understand more deeply, this is the time to begin. What Gemini Season Is Asking of You Every astrological season carries a question beneath it. For Gemini, that question is: what are you genuinely curious about? Not what you think you should be interested in, or what looks productive or impressive from the outside. What actually lights your mind up? What could you talk about for hours? What rabbit hole have you been resisting because you weren't sure where it would lead? Follow it. Gemini season is also an invitation to pay attention to who you surround yourself with. This is a deeply social season. The people you spend time with influence the quality of your thinking, the breadth of your perspective, and the stories you absorb about what is possible. This is a good time to seek out conversations that expand you rather than conversations that keep you small. And perhaps most importantly, Gemini invites us to hold our own opinions a little more lightly. Not to abandon our values, but to remain genuinely open to new information. To be willing to say, "I didn't know that. I've changed my mind. I see it differently now." That kind of mental flexibility is not weakness; it's one of the most spiritually sophisticated things a person can practice. The Twins The symbol of Gemini is the Twins, and it carries more depth than it first appears. The Twins don't represent contradiction or instability. They represent the understanding that we contain multitudes. That holding two truths at once is not confusion, it's wisdom. That you can be both serious and playful. Both certain and open. Both the student and the teacher, sometimes in the same conversation. Gemini season invites you to make peace with your own complexity. You don't have to be one thing. You don't have to be consistent across every context and relationship. You are allowed to be curious, evolving, and full of facets that don't all point in the same direction. An Air Element Ritual for Gemini Season This ritual works with breath, smoke, and the spoken word, the three most immediate expressions of air energy. It uses the duality of the Twins to help you consciously release the story you've been carrying and speak the one you're ready to step into. It is simple but surprisingly powerful, especially if you actually say the words out loud rather than just thinking them. What You'll Need: A journal and pen An incense stick or loose incense and a charcoal disc (any scent you love, though lavender, bergamot, or mint align beautifully with Gemini energy) A yellow or white candle A small piece of paper separate from your journal A fireproof dish Setting the Space Open a window if you can, even just a crack. Air needs to move during this ritual. Light your incense and let the smoke drift for a moment before you begin. Watch it and notice how it moves, curling, changing direction, never quite the same shape twice. That is Gemini. That is the mind at its most alive. Light your candle. Take five slow, deliberate breaths, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. With each exhale, imagine you are releasing any mental noise that isn't useful right now. The Two Sides Open your journal and draw a line down the center of the page, creating two columns. Label the left side "The Story I've Been Telling" and the right side "The Story I'm Ready to Live." On the left, write honestly. What have you been saying about yourself, your path, your possibilities? What thoughts keep circling? What narrative plays on repeat, even when you don't want it to? Write without judgment. This column is not about shame, it's about seeing clearly. On the right, write freely. Who are you becoming? What do you want to believe about yourself and your life? What would you think and say if you trusted yourself completely? Let this column be expansive. Let it surprise you. The Breath and Voice Practice This is the part that matters most, and the part most people want to skip. Choose one thing from your left column. Just one. Read it silently first, then say it aloud. Hear yourself say it. Notice how it feels in your body when you speak it into the air. Then take a slow breath in. On the exhale, say: "I am ready to release this story. It was never the whole truth." Now choose one thing from your right column. Read it silently, then say it aloud with as much conviction as you can find, even if it feels like a stretch (especially if it feels like a stretch). Gemini knows that saying something is the first step to making it real. Repeat with as many pairs as feels right. The Smoke Offering On your small piece of paper, write the one story or belief from the left column that feels most ready to go. Fold it, hold it for a moment, and then safely light it from your candle flame and place it in your fireproof dish, letting it burn completely. Watch the smoke carry it up and away, and exhale with it. The Closing Place your hands over your throat and take three more slow breaths. Then say aloud: "My words are alive. My mind is clear. I follow what is true for me, and I am not afraid to say it." Leave the window open for a few minutes after you finish, and let the air move through. Working With Gemini Season All Month Long You don't need a formal ritual every day to work with this energy. Gemini rewards small, consistent acts of mental aliveness. Start a question journal. Instead of writing answers, spend five minutes each morning writing questions. Anything you're wondering about, curious about, or noticing. Questions are Gemini's native language. Seek out a perspective that challenges yours. Read something from a tradition or viewpoint you don't usually encounter. Have a conversation with someone whose experience of the world is different from your own. Let your thinking be stretched. Pay attention to your self-talk. Notice, without judgment, the inner dialogue running beneath your daily life. Is it supportive? Is it honest? Is it the voice of someone you actually want to take guidance from? Say the thing. Gemini season has a way of making the unsaid feel heavier than it needs to be. If there is something you've been holding back, a truth, an appreciation, a boundary, a question, this is a good season to find the words and let them out. If you are looking for tools to support your practice this season, our monthly subscription box delivers intentionally curated ritual tools straight to your door each month. Taurus Season Is Here and It Wants You to Slow Down
Taurus Season Is Here and It Wants You to Slow Down
After the fire and momentum of Aries season, Taurus arrives like the earth after rain. Settled, fragrant, and alive in a quieter, more enduring way. If Aries was the spark, Taurus is the slow, steady flame that actually warms the room. This is one of the most sensory, embodied times of the entire astrological year. And if you let it, it can be deeply, genuinely restorative. Below you'll find everything you need to understand this season's energy, plus a full Venus-honoring ritual to help you sink into it fully. Understanding Taurus Energy Taurus is the first earth sign of the zodiac. Fixed, grounded, and ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, love, pleasure, and self-worth. Where Aries moves through instinct and impulse, Taurus moves through the body. Through sensation. Through the slow, deliberate pleasure of being present in physical form. This is a sign that understands something the rest of the zodiac sometimes forgets: that nourishment is not a reward you earn. It is the foundation everything else is built on. Taurus energy is not lazy, despite what the stubborn bull's reputation might suggest. It is intentional. It does not rush because it understands that the most meaningful things, deep roots, genuine abundance, lasting beauty, cannot be forced. They have to be tended. Think of a garden in spring. You don't pull the seedlings up to make them grow faster. You water them. You trust the process. You show up consistently, with care, and let nature do what nature does. That is Taurus season in essence. The Venus Influence Because Taurus is ruled by Venus, the themes of this season go beyond just slowing down. There is a lushness here. A call toward beauty, sensory pleasure, and the kind of self-care that goes deeper than a face mask. Venus in Taurus asks: what do you actually value? Not what you think you should value. Not what looks good from the outside. What genuinely nourishes you, lights you up, and feels worth protecting? This season has a way of making that question impossible to ignore. Old obligations that no longer serve you start to feel heavier. The things that truly matter to you start to feel magnetic. Pay attention to that. Venus also governs self-worth, and Taurus season has a particular gift for helping us reconnect with our own value. Not the value we perform for others, but the quiet, unshakeable sense of worth that lives in the body. In the way you carry yourself. In what you choose to let in and what you choose to release. The Body as Sacred Ground One of the most powerful invitations of Taurus season is to return to the body as a site of spiritual practice, not just a vehicle for getting things done. In a culture that glorifies productivity, busyness, and constant output, Taurus energy is genuinely radical. It says: Your body matters. Your comfort matters. The way things feel matters. Pleasure is not frivolous. It is information. It is medicine. It is how your body communicates what is true for you. This is a season to eat slowly and with intention. To move in ways that feel good rather than punishing. To wear things that make you feel beautiful. To light the candle, use the good oil, take the long bath. Not as a treat. As a practice. The body knows things the mind hasn't caught up to yet. Taurus season gives you permission to listen. What Taurus Season Is Asking of You Every astrological season carries a question beneath it. For Taurus, that question is: What are you ready to tend? Not just build. Not just begin. Tend. With patience, consistency, and genuine care. This might be a creative practice you've been neglecting. A relationship that needs more presence. A daily ritual that helps you feel like yourself. A slower, more intentional approach to how you spend your energy. Taurus doesn't ask you to hustle. It asks you to commit. And there's a profound difference between the two. A Venus-Honoring Ritual for Taurus Season This ritual is an act of sacred tending. It is slow, sensory, and unapologetically indulgent because that is exactly what Taurus energy calls for. Set aside at least 30 to 45 minutes where you won't be interrupted. What You'll Need: A pink, green, or cream candle A rose quartz crystal Rose water or a floral body oil (rose, jasmine, or ylang ylang work beautifully) Fresh or dried flowers, whatever feels beautiful to you A small mirror Dark chocolate, honey, or another food that feels genuinely luxurious to you Your journal and a pen Setting the Space Before you begin, take time to make your space feel genuinely beautiful. Arrange your flowers. Place your crystal where you can see it. Dim the lights. Put on music that feels lush and slow. This is not decorative. The act of creating beauty is itself part of the ritual. Taurus understands that the container matters. Light your candle and take three slow, full breaths. Let the exhale be longer than the inhale. Feel your feet on the floor, your body in the chair, or on the earth. Arrive here. Anointing Pour a small amount of your rose water or body oil into your palms. Warm it between your hands and breathe in the scent. Slowly, with full attention, anoint your hands, your wrists, your heart space, and the back of your neck. As you do this, you are not just applying oil. You are tending to yourself. You are saying: this body is worthy of care. This body is sacred ground. The Mirror Work Pick up your small mirror and look at yourself. Not critically. Just... look. Notice what you see. Notice the impulse to judge or dismiss, and gently set it aside. Say aloud, as many times as it takes to feel true: "I am enough. I am worthy. I belong to myself." This might feel uncomfortable at first. Stay with it. Taurus energy is patient. The Pleasure Offering Take your chocolate, honey, or chosen food and eat it as slowly as you possibly can. Notice every sensation. The texture, the temperature, the flavor as it changes. Let it be a meditation. Let it be an act of receiving. This is a Venus offering. A small act of saying yes to pleasure without guilt or rushing. The Tending Commitment Open your journal and write freely in response to these prompts: What in my life right now genuinely nourishes me? What have I been rushing through that deserves more presence and care? What am I ready to tend to this season, slowly, lovingly, and without forcing? What would it mean to treat my own life as something worth savoring? When you feel complete, place both hands on the earth or the floor. Feel the steadiness beneath you. Let it hold you. Close by saying: "I am rooted. I am tended. I trust the pace of my own becoming." Let the candle burn down safely, or extinguish it with intention and return to it over the coming days. Working With Taurus Season All Month Long You don't have to contain this energy to a single ritual. Here are a few simple ways to carry Taurus season with you through April and May: Slow your mornings. Even by ten minutes. Let the first part of your day be yours, unhurried and sensory. Tea, not coffee. Bare feet on the floor. A few breaths before the phone. Tend something physical. A plant, a garden, your altar, your home. Taurus energy is activated through physical tending. Get your hands into something real. Move for pleasure, not punishment. Walk slowly. Stretch. Dance in your kitchen. Let your body lead rather than your to-do list. Create a Venus altar. Gather things that feel beautiful and meaningful to you. Flowers, rose quartz, a mirror, something in pink or green, a piece of jewelry, images of things you love. Tend it throughout the season. Practice receiving. This is a Venusian art. Let compliments land. Accept help. Allow good things without immediately deflecting or minimizing. This is harder than it sounds and more powerful than you might expect. Taurus season is not asking you to arrive somewhere. It is asking you to be here, fully, in the life you are already living. There is so much beauty available when you slow down enough to notice it. If you are looking for tools to support your practice this season, our monthly subscription box is thoughtfully curated to help you create consistent, meaningful rituals all year long. Each box includes crystals, ritual tools, botanical elements, and a digital guidebook designed to support exactly the kind of intentional practice Taurus season calls for. Or if you are ready to go deeper right now, explore our curated bundles. Our Earth Magick, Peace Seeker, and Sacred Devotion bundles were each created with the same care and intention, and any one of them would feel right at home in a Taurus season ritual.
