Tea Time: Potions for Summer Nights

Tea Time: Potions for Summer Nights

At Snowy Owl Tea, we take relaxation time very seriously. Our recipes are meant to be brewed as gifts: for yourself, your found family, and especially for you and your BFF while you share stories with every last detail—because that is how we bring tea to each other!

Ultraviolet Tea: The Basic Brew Ritual

Green tea is best in “just off” boiled water, or about 170-185 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let your tea steep for 3-4 minutes, and while it does, take a moment to breathe in the aromatic steam—seek out each ingredient if you can: the brightness of lemongrass, earthy green tea, delicate violet.

While the deep blue of butterfly pea flower blooms in your cup, cut a slice of lemon and squeeze it in to see the color change from blue to violet. Swirl in a touch of sweetener if you prefer it, and savor slowly.

Ultraviolet Deep Hydration Recipe

This is the way we make iced-ultraviolet for an 80’s montage of a day! Brew your Ultraviolet Tea double-strength, stir in a touch of maple syrup or honey, and then pour it over ice to cool down in the shade.

Bonus ingredients in our pitcher:

  • Citrus slices for extra vitamin C
  • Coconut Water for an electrolyte boost

Pro tip: While you sip, share impertinent questions with your circle.

  • What one food would you bring with you to a desert island?
  • Which diva has the most epic song of all time?
  • Which animal is truly the cutest?

It’s easier to hydrate and montage while being silly. Your nervous system appreciates the breather.

Ultraviolet Celebration Recipes

Celebrate with a slushie! Nothing says summer like iced fruity goodness.

Brew and freeze Ultraviolet Tea in ice cube trays, then blend with lemon juice and honey for a blue and purple slushie. If you want to get extra fancy, garnish with frozen tea cubes and lemon slices.

OR:

Celebrate with a tea-based mocktail:
Muddle some cucumber slices in a mason jar. To the jar, add:

  • 1 1/2 oz of gin-alternative
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice (or about 1/2 a lemon's worth)
  • 1/2 oz of maple or simple syrup

Shake, then strain into a tall glass. Add crushed ice, then top with chilled Ultraviolet Tea. Garnish with cucumber, lemon, and fresh lemongrass.

While you are celebrating, list your highlights of the summer—together or in your journal. What was your favorite moment in nature? The song of the summer, in your opinion? Your favorite day-off activity? The best summer food? The boundary you set that you are still proud of? Every win from big to small counts. Drink it in. :)
