Your magic basket is empty 🤷♀️
The word Friday comes from Frigg, the Norse goddess of love and beauty, and in astrology, Friday is Venus day. The planet of pleasure, beauty, abundance, and the deep feminine art of receiving.
You've met your Big Three. Your Sun is your core identity, your Moon is your emotional inner world, and your Rising is the first impression you make before you've said a word. Together they run most of your chart, but they don't tell the whole story.
Just beyond them sit the personal planets, and the first one most people want to know is Venus. It's the planet that shapes how you love, what you find beautiful and what makes you feel truly valued. If you've ever wondered why you're drawn to certain people, or why some things light you up while others leave you cold, your Venus sign holds a lot of the answer.
💖 What Is a Venus Sign, Really?
Your Venus sign is the zodiac sign Venus was moving through at the moment you were born. In astrology, Venus rules love, beauty, pleasure, harmony and values, which covers romance but also much more.
Your Venus shows how you give and receive affection, what you're naturally attracted to, how you spend your money, what you consider beautiful and what helps you feel worthy of good things. It's as present in your friendships and your style as it is in your love life.
If your Sun is who you are, your Venus is what you love and how you love it.
🔮 How to Find Your Venus Sign
Unlike your Rising sign, your Venus sign usually only needs your birth date and year, so you can pop them into a free Venus sign calculator and have your answer in seconds. You'll only need your birth time if Venus happened to change signs on the day you were born.
Here's something most people don't know: Venus orbits so close to the Sun that it's never more than two signs away from your Sun sign. If you're a Leo Sun, for example, your Venus can only be in Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo or Libra. For many people, Venus sits in the same sign as the Sun, which amplifies that sign's energy even more.
🌹 The 12 Venus Signs
Aries Venus loves boldly. You fall fast, you enjoy the chase, and you'd rather someone tell you exactly how they feel than leave you guessing. For you, affection looks like enthusiasm, and a little spontaneity goes a long way in keeping your heart lit.
Taurus Venus loves through the senses. Venus is at home in Taurus, so you show love through good food, soft textures and steady presence. You value loyalty over grand gestures, and beauty and comfort aren't luxuries to you but the very things that help you feel safe.
Gemini Venus loves through conversation. Your heart opens to whoever can keep you curious, and a clever exchange is basically your love language. You need variety and wit, and a partner who also feels like a friend you could talk to for hours.
Cancer Venus loves by caring. You show affection by tending, feeding and remembering the little things, and you need to feel emotionally safe before you fully open up. Home and familiar rituals are where your heart relaxes most.
Leo Venus loves generously. You want romance that feels like a celebration, and you give your affection with warmth, loyalty and a flair for the dramatic. Being truly seen and appreciated matters to you more than you might admit.
Virgo Venus loves through devotion. You show love by noticing what someone needs and quietly taking care of it. Sincerity and effort mean everything to you, and thoughtful consistency will always win you over faster than a big declaration.
Libra Venus loves harmony. Venus rules Libra, so beauty, balance and partnership come naturally to you. You're drawn to grace and fairness, and you feel most like yourself in relationships where both people give equally.
Scorpio Venus loves all in. You'd rather have one soul-deep connection than a dozen easy ones, and trust is everything. Your affection is intense and fiercely loyal, and you're drawn to what's real, even when it's complicated.
Sagittarius Venus loves freely. You fall for people who expand your world, whether through travel, big ideas or shared laughter. You need room to breathe in love, and honesty matters more to you than keeping things comfortable.
Capricorn Venus loves with commitment. You take your time, but once you choose someone, you're building something that lasts. You show love through reliability and effort, and you value quality over quantity in everything from friendships to the things you bring home.
Aquarius Venus loves on its own terms. Friendship sits at the heart of romance for you, and you need plenty of space to be exactly yourself. You're drawn to the original and unexpected, and your affection shows up as loyalty to someone's truest self.
Pisces Venus loves unconditionally. Venus is exalted in Pisces, so your capacity for compassion and romance runs especially deep. You love with imagination and tenderness, and you're drawn to connections that feel almost spiritual.
🕯️ How to Actually Work With Your Venus Sign
Knowing your Venus sign is lovely, but working with it is where the magic happens. The simplest way to begin is by element.
Fire Venus (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): You feel most loved when life feels exciting. Say yes to something spontaneous, move your body to music you love, or light a red or gold candle and write down one thing you're ready to go after with your whole heart.
Earth Venus (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Pleasure is your medicine. Slow down with a warm bath, a home-cooked meal or fresh flowers on your table, and keep a piece of rose quartz or green aventurine somewhere you'll touch it every day.
Air Venus (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Words and beauty feed your heart. Write yourself a love letter, have a real conversation with someone who inspires you, or rearrange a small corner of your space until it feels balanced and beautiful.
Water Venus (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): You need emotional nourishment. Try a moonlit bath with rose petals, journal about what helps you feel truly cared for, or spend an evening doing something that's purely for your own heart.
A little Friday magic for every Venus: Friday is traditionally Venus's day, which makes it the perfect time for a small self-love ritual. Place a flower or a piece of rose quartz on your altar, and write down three things you love about yourself and your life right now.
🔄 Venus Retrograde: October 3 to November 13, 2026
Every year and a half or so, Venus appears to move backwards through the sky for about six weeks. This year's retrograde begins in Scorpio on October 3 and moves back into Libra before Venus turns direct on November 13.
Venus retrograde is less about starting fresh and more about revisiting. It's a beautiful time to reflect on your relationships, reconnect with old pleasures and ask yourself whether what you value still feels true. Many astrologers suggest holding off on dramatic beauty changes or big-ticket purchases until Venus is moving forward again. If your Venus sign is Scorpio or Libra, you may feel this one a little more deeply.
